IRVINE, Calif. (January 9, 2009) – Manuel J. Ramirez, CPA, president and chief executive officer of Ramirez International, has been named vice president of the California Board of Accountancy. Since his appointment to the organization by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ramirez has held the position of Chairman of the Committee on Professional Conduct for the Board and will now assume the role as vice president for a one-year term, effective January 2009.
As vice president, Ramirez will further the board’s mission to develop, enforce and maintain statewide accountancy practice standards and protect the public interest. The board examines industry ethics, objectivity and competency to benefit both the industry and general public.
Ramirez is a former recipient of the prestigious Chapman University Passkeys Ethics Award for service and professional conduct. He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and received his master’s of science in Tax Law from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, Calif.
The appointment of Ramirez is his latest in a long list of board achievements and leadership positions. He is the principal founder, first president and chairman of the Hispanic 100 Political Action Committee (PAC), through which he played a supportive role in pursuing the passage of the 2002 After School Initiative. In addition, Ramirez is a co-founder and board member of the GenNext Political Action Committee (PAC). Ramirez has provided leadership to various cause-related and civic organizations, such as the American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Orange County Office of Protocol Foundation, Rancho Santiago College International Advisory Board, Boy Scouts of America, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Orange County, for which he served as president and chairman of the board.
